Mel Glow: A Celebration of Mel Knight
Afterglow, what some barbershoppers may consider the most important aspect of barbershopping, normally occurs after a show. It’s a celebration of a performance, a chance for casual singing, and, most important, a time for friends to be together.
Mel-Glow, a Celebration of the Life of Mel Knight, will be held at 1PM, Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Shute Farmstead, 4825 NE Starr Blvd, Hillsboro, Oregon.
There will be music and words.
Groups that will be performing include:
-
Mel’s Alumni, Family, and Friends Jazz Band, featuring a Mel Knight composition
-
Over Time, Mel’s last quartet, featuring Cory Knight
-
Quartet Champions of the Evergreen District
-
Argonauts
-
InVoice
-
PDX Voices
-
Social Insecurity
-
The Oregon SenateAires
-
Cascade Chorus
We are going forward rain or shine, knowing that Memorial Day Weekend can be problematic in Oregon. Our venue is primarily outdoors, but there will be chairs (rain or shine) and a tent if the skies open up. Forgo the formal wear. Dress for comfort. Layers are good. And there are some grassy areas, so skip the spiked heels, too.
The formal program will be no more than 2 hours. When you have a bunch of musicians together, it’s obvious that the performances will continue. There will be an afterglow for Mel-Glow. (attendance optional for the afterglow).
We will all be sharing memories on May 28th. In the meantime, go to www.melglow.org for pictures and memories. There is a place for you to leave your own stories. We also ask that you let us know if you will be attending by clicking on the RSVP button.
